Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 LX Review

Story by Azfar Hashim, Hazrin Mohamad and Jarvis Seo. Pictures by Azfar Hashim. - 10 Apr 2008

Toyota lost an important market share in the highly saturated sedan market to Honda. Will the new Altis (with Orlando Bloom) help Toyota in gaining back their market lead? The folks at Oneshift.com give their own personal take for this "new star" in the arena

Introduction

You’d have to go a long way to find anyone that finds the outgoing Toyota Corolla Altis either dated or anything other than smart. But here’s the new one – and it’s more modern and smarter…By much.

The old Altis amounted to a significant amount of Toyota’s sales volume here, so there’s actually nothing wrong with the formula. And it struck a well-harmonised chord – it looked good you wanted it, and you could find a stack of sensible reasons as to why you needed it.

Needless to say, Toyota ensures us that the new Altis will be much better than the old. More space, improved fuel economy and better performance – the key criteria sedan-buying persons look for when shopping for that suitable car.

Can it deliver what it promises?

Azfar, Jarvis and our new contributor, Hazrin, got a go with the car. How do they find the car? Does the Altis live up to their expectation? And more importantly, can it get back its throne?
