The Audi A6 has somewhat often been ignored by executive car buyers here in Singapore. Most who are looking at a full-sized executive will usually make their main choices the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5 Series, with models like the Audi A6 and the Lexus GS300 among others, usually, getting ignored.
It is not the same case in European markets like Germany though, where the A6 has proved to be a major success for the Four Rings ever since the current generation was introduced back in 2004.
If you scrutinize things, there’s actually a lot to like about the A6. Quite why local car buyers shun it is pretty hard for me to understand. Well, Audi has just put the A6 through its mid-life facelift, so perhaps the updates will improve the A6’s situation in Singapore then.
No other mass manufacturer does cabins better than Audi, and the A6’s classy and luxurious interior ambience is another testament to that. Bar the new MMI operating interface, there is little change in the cabin over the old model…which is no bad thing.
The new MMI is more logical to use and features an improved sat-nav system, as well as an internal hard disk for you to store music and phone contact details. Other standard kits on the 3.0 TFSI quattro here include cruise control, “S line” exterior package and front seats, bi-Xenon headlamps and premium factory-fitted stereo system
On the outside, the new model is distinguished by several updates, bringing the A6’s looks up to date with that of Audi’s newer models both the A4 and A5 - upfront, there are new headlamps with the obligatory LED daytime running lights. Other than the headlamps, there aren’t any other obvious changes at the front.
