More than meets the eye

And this is why the Odyssey remains the perennial class favourite...

And it's easily justifiable why - besides being a very practical MPV, it also proved to be a very competent handler.

While most cars are built knowing specifically what they're supposed to do, there are some that can be considered "schizophrenics". And I don't mean they're the sort of car that will suddenly take control, turn mad and scare the hell out of you and the passengers - what I simply meant was while it's designed as, say, an MPV, it also has another set of talent.

The same can be said of a certain MPV. You've guessed it - yes, I'm talking about the Honda Odyssey. Now into its fourth generation, its predecessor got rave reviews everywhere. And it's easily justifiable why - besides being a very practical MPV, it also proved to be a very competent handler.

Honda wasn't contented it seem, so the third generation gets a facelift two years later. That simply boosted sales even further.

The latest version you're seeing here has the easy task of continuing what its predecessor left off. Let's face it - even when compared to the aging Mitsubishi Grandis, predictable Nissan Presage and common face Toyota Previa, the crowd would still rather take the Odyssey.

Exterior

The first notable difference you can see on this Odyssey is the façade. Sporting a new bumper and grill assembly, curvier headlamps and repositioned foglamps, I won't blame you if you think the chrome bit on the bumper resembles Volkswagen's Golf R32 and Passat R36. Nevertheless, it looks much youthful now, doesn't it?

Most body panels - including the doors - remain the same as before, but Honda still enlarged the side-skirts to give it a lower stance. By the way, this new one is actually 1mm taller than its predecessor. The Odyssey also gets a more purposeful 17-inch alloys wrapped in 215/55 R-17 Yokohama rubbers to complete the whole look.

Tail lamps are also new items. But it's hard not to opine how it seems to uncannily resemble the Subaru Exiga's. Somehow, I wish they didn't change the ones we saw previously. That one was cooler with the triangular shape and the heavy use of LEDs - hiding the fact that the Odyssey is an MPV.

Oh, and before I forget, I should state that the subtle roof spoiler come standard as well.
