The only MPV you
might ever need
Similar cars tried: Mitsubishi Grandis
Fuel consumption: 11 km/litre
Drive pattern: 50% road 50% highway
Duration of car driven: 6 months
Performance:
Reliability:
Value:
Overall:

Strengths

Good fuel consumption
Spacious interior
Good handling
Love the facelift from the previous version
sufficient legroom for adults at rear seats
Quiet
Good suspension

Weaknesses

Brakes on the Weak side
Stereo out of reach for driver.

The Review

Visibility is excellent, and with the “A” pillars thickness reduced greatly reduced as well as an unhindered vantage through the wide windscreen gives a clear and panoramic view of the road ahead.

Dashboard however is not so great with the positioning of the stereo a bit out of reach for a typical Singaporean and no stereo controls on the steering wheel.

The red, blue and white self-illuminating instruments give a futuristic look and intuitive of function. The white LCD centre display contains odometer, trip meter and trip computer functionality.

Road noise levels have also been greatly improved with wind noise and wheel noise now barely audible.

Ride is slightly on the stiff side but not so much that it’s uncomfortable but controlled and despite all the bumpiness of the Singapore street roads, it was barely felt from the drivers or passengers.

Strengths

Comfortable ride

Chic and modern interior.
Great exterior
Good display layout
Spacious
Love the dashboard layout.
Above average fuel economy
Quiet engine

Weaknesses

Average pick up speed.
Feels a bit underpowered.
Feels sluggish with passengers and load.

The Review

Very comfortable to drive around the city.
Very good value for money.

I took it up to KL with my wife and 2 kids to do some mileage. The ride was very smooth. Kids slept all the way at the back even through the bumpy parts. Fuel comsumption was better than expected.

Really love the exterior shoulder line and the front. Looks very masculine yet soft at the same time. Certainly drew some stares from the malaysians when we pulled up at the rest points.haha

It has very good ground clearance as well. Managed to clear the MSCPs with superb ease especially on the humps as compared to the Civic.

Previously considered getting the Civic but the Cruze was cheaper and a much more comfortable ride. Certainly no regrets on getting this car.

The Review

This is a very excellent car.
Value is the best deal here.
Performance is reasonable and impressive.
Packed with so much gadgets and features.
Safety level is reasonable.
Drove it to Malacca to see if the paper spec are true.
The result turn out to be better than I have expected.
Drove it to Jurong Island every working day.
Kanna 12 demerit points cum court case for speeding.
Watchout for the acceleration.

Abit noisy but still consider very soft.
The suspension abit soft, obvious when the road is uneven.
4AT gear box instead of 5AT gear box.
Bodykit too low, always kanna when coming out of MSCP.
especially Novena Square 2 MSCP.

Looks matter
Similar cars tried: Mercedes E Class, BMW 3 Series
Fuel consumption: 9.4 km/litre
Drive pattern: daily weekday peak hour commute to work & back home (island edge to & fro CBD).
Duration of car driven: More than 3 years
Performance:
Reliability:
Value:
Overall:

Strengths

Prestigious brand, classy looks & local exclusivity (not commonly sighted as Beemer or cabbed as Merz mass ride)

Weaknesses

uphill acceleration lag (due to necessary weight for stable ride); get the sports line variant/edition or 3L version for decent power.

The Review

For an entry level executive sedan, X type distinguishes itself by its inherited XJ/Daimler looks, thereby looking classy and importing a luxurious aura for its ride & driver (but try to stick to light colors). Jaguar is niche and received as an affluent car category, so sporty performance is not its pride spec., remembering also its gross weight nears 2 tonnes and it's specially built long for that classic limo feel. Kept closely exclusive, the V6 basic model (as opposed to 4 cylinder engines of 3 series, C & E Class like Japanese counterparts) without compromising inclusion of any SUV/MPV or compact hatchbacks makes this marque distinctly desirable and unique on local roads.

Powerful mini
Fuel consumption: 11 km/litre
Drive pattern: 9-10km/L - Turbo boost most of the time, floor acc frequently, hot weather, high speed drive, caught in trafic jam
10-11km/L - Normal drive with moderate boost
11-12km/L - normal acceleration to occasional turbo boost (OCCASIONALLY)
14.1km/L - left lane most of the time, may lead to high beaming and honing. Keep to 75-90km/h cruising at highway. Slow acceleration unless neccessary to speed up for stable cruising.
Duration of car driven: 1 year
Performance:
Reliability:
Value:
Overall:

Strengths

Good Power to weight ratio. CVT smooth drive, tiptronic sporty drive, extremely powerful when boost more than 0.5 bar.

Electric Tailgate, HID light, 4 disc brake, unique features like ACS, 4 auto electric windows. Front Ralliart Air Dam is tastefully designed.

A powerful car in disguise for most people.

Weaknesses

Roll and soft body. High on fuel consumption when rev often. Not much aftermarket parts to mod relatively. Back suspension seated easily although its stiffer than normal Colt Plus.

Bad sound proof, noisy during highway cruise. Tight engine bay meaning hard for additional mod equipment and hard to work around for mod.

Egg look alike, that makes the car looks not that sporty. No keyless start/entry, no fuel consumption meter, need to push hard (meaning more fuel) for low end.

The Review

Armed with features that can only be found on high end cars like electric tailgate, HID lights, auto 4 windows control, ACS.

Smooth acceleration with the roaring MIVEC, turbo spoof in at 2k+, sweet tune and power at this range. Sports mode for instance overtaking. Spacious boot with collapsible rear seats for even more bulky item. Dual layer trunk boot.

Good for young adult who yearns for a sporty ride yet with more boot space. Insurance only favours 30s and above, but then fuel consumption is still affordable and sweet for a turbo car if not rev too often, road tax is low.

Handling has to be mod for better ride and cornering.
