The Review

Ford, i think, is not a brand most people would think of when buying a car; much less when you want to buy an MPV. Most would think of the Estima or the like.

But after driving this Galaxy for awhile, I realised that it was quite a solid car. The drive is smooth and comfortable and the places to put things are numerous! The storage compartments that run from the front row to the 2nd row on the ceiling looks like the overhead baggage compartments on an airplane. Quite Cool!

The only thing is the folding seat mechanism. It's not well designed. It might cut your hand if you're not careful. If not, this is one MPV that can go toe to toe with the Estima.

Weaknesses

Still has Chery's "budget" image

The Review

Gets you from A to B in relative comfort. It has improved a lot in a short time that Chery has been in Singapore. It does not feel weak and breathless even with four passengers, rather surprising!

A lovely car from
some angles and a
good companion to
me.
Similar cars tried: Never tried other cars of 1.1 litre.. But tried 1.6 litres and above. Not much of a difference only that this car accelerates slower than 1.6 litre cars. But it still runs!
Fuel consumption: 15.8 km/litre
Drive pattern: REALLY Full tank can go up to 700km tested almost every month. 650km-700km depends on the way U drive. Also go for ur yearly Wheel alignment and rotation for BEST results!
Duration of car driven: More than 3 years

Strengths

Bought my car April 2008. GREAT handling. I LOVE MY CAR! 2 years 4 months and its engine and performance and reliability is till going good! As long as U do ur regular servicing.. Every 8000km-10000km based on ur usage. I can fit 5 adults and 4 children without ANY PROBLEMS MOVING! Never break down before for these 2 years 4 months of usage. Hope it wont happen though in the future..

Weaknesses

Air con not as very cold as other cars but just nice. The interior body abit fragile if U are too rough though..

The Review

I love the handling part of this car... I can turn here and there very very easily.. Which is good cause I can get away from tight areas and corners effortlessly... oooo yeaahhh...
Petrol fuel consumption not bad man..!

The Review

I've always been quite the snob against Kei cars, like the Subaru R1 and the Mitsu i. Their tiny size and frankly, rubbish design conjures up images of humans in a sardine can.

It was not until recently that I got a lift from a friend driving the Mitsu i that I've come to appreciate, perhaps slightly, the sense in driving one.

The design, I still stand by it, is a personal affair; meaning personally, I hate it BUT you might like it. But then it'd be hard for us to be friends. The non-existent front end in addition to the non-existent rear end leaves the car only one dimension left to grow - upwards. It is a rather tall car, as Kei cars go. And with the added height, passengers inside are somewhat conned into thinking that the sitting room is spacious. There's plenty of head room for sure but cram more than two friends in the car and you'd start to feel the claustrophobia setting in.

The interior is of a decent quality. I'm not expecting much and I wasn't much surprised by what I found.

What was interesting to me was finding out how the turbo played a role in the entire driving experience. The Turbo here is I presume tiny. It puts out 0.5bar of boost, if I'm not mistaken. And it kicks in at 2,500 - 3,000rpm?

While riding shotgun, I found that the ride was surprisingly pliant and the engine was not really struggling as much as I'd predicted/hoped. The turbo really helped push the car along. My friend had no problems overtaking cars in front of her on the highway. As a commuter car, it has served its purpose.

But as a car that I could live with, perhaps not. No offense at all meant to Kei car owners. I just don't fancy something this small and cutesy at the price of a Honda Jazz.

ROAD TEST
Sharp looking SUV with Euro influences.
