Volkswagen Touran 1.4 TSI (DSG) 2010

The Review

I have 3 kids, and from time to time I would like all the family members to sit in one car instead of two. While looking for ann MPV I have listed down some criteria : Merc/BMW level of equipment, 7 seats with the last 2 row usable, powerful (sub 10 seconds from 0 to 100km/hrs) when I am driving along, and yet enough power to carry 7, but small engine with small amount of road tax to pay. Here I found Touran - a well build car from Germany, center seats can take away completely if I need a van, comes with rain and light sensor and cruise control as well. I have upgraded it with multi-function leather steering wheel, fog light and the build in touch-screen VW RNS510 with navigation and bluetooth telephone interface and bluetooth audio stream. It also comes with some little features which I find very useful, such as home coming/welcome light, mirror tilting when reverse, the orignal parking sensor (option) is wonderful. Engine is a 1.4 TSI means road tax is only 600 plus a year, but the power output at 140bhp and 220 Nm torque is more than sufficient. In fact the torque is the same as a Honda Odessy 2.4. Never fail to amaze me when people realise that this MPV is only having a 1.4 engine. Everyone sitting in my car thought it is at least a 2.0. This is so far the best MPV I had (well... except a little waiting time when I bookf ro servicing, but with the new VW center open at MacPerson Road, waiting time has been shorten). Now I had the car for more than a year - and still loving it everyday.
