2008 Subaru WRX Unveiled at Motor Image, Singapore! (Photos)

Associated corporate members of Subaru and the media were treated to a cordial unveiling of the Impreza S-GT (which is to replace the WRX in the Japanese Domestic Market)

Unfortunately, we were not able to get good shots of the S-GT as overcrowding was the order of the evening, with everyone excited to see the new car.

The interior is a marked improvement, where you will find a nice, big boot and driving position that is much more comfortable thanks to telescopic steering adjustment.

The "less than bucket" seats were kind of a disappointment though, while the gearshift feel appears to be unchanged from the previous model.

The S-GT that we previewed also came with 18 inch STI wheels with 225/45 Falken 522 tyres wrapped around them, with slightly bigger, or same size brake rotors at the current model. The 2-pot front/1 pot rear arrangement remains.

The S-GT is claimed to be over 100 kilograms lighter than the current standard model WRX.

Motor Image has yet to finalize their price list. A good estimate indicates that the S-GT, which will come with the existing 2.5 litre turbocharged boxer four that will yield peak power and a flatter torque curve 500-800rpm lower in the rev range, will retail for just a little more over the current standard WRX manual.

There will also be plans to introduce the 2.0 litre turbo automatic in the later part of 2008. Sales for the S-GT will start from October.
