What’s new
We first tested the Veloster some time ago back in 2012. Generally impressed by its styling, we concluded that the engine was the car’s only real Achilles’ heel. Back with some minor updates for 2015, the Veloster continues to impress with its design that’s still not quite gone out of date, but keeps its slightly underpowered engine.
What’s new though, is so subtle it takes a bit of squinting to figure out what Hyundai have done to refresh the Veloster.
You’ve got a new hood which loses the twin air vents but keeps the sculpting around where the vents used to be and the car now comes with a new wheel design. The 1 + 2 door coupe/hatch hybrid body remains, which means the love-it-or-hate-it bit of the car that defines it the most is still up for debate. Besides these, little else was changed on the outside, so no one will blame you for not being able to tell whether they bought this year’s model or a used example.
On the inside, some updates have also been made by Hyundai. You get a new tune that sings like every Hyundai car of late, except this particular tune is exclusive to the Veloster. The 7 inch infotainment system has also been upgraded with Bluetooth connectivity.
