Lexus ES Hybrid Luxury Review

Introduction, updates

Lexus has reintroduced the ES range after just 2 short years of the line up reaching our shores.

While it is unconventional for a car manufacturer to refresh a range so quickly into its lifecycle, Lexus has decided that it wants to keep up with the rest of the market and offer something that’s compelling enough to steal the segment.

Not that the ES really needed much of a facelift (obviously because they didn’t change all that much), but in the ever competitive mid-sized luxury sedan market with high-tech players such as the recently reviewed Audi A6, it’s never a bad thing to add more goodies to an already well endowed machine.

Exterior updates include the new spindle front grille that has been made more outstanding and flanked with chrome-lined foggies. Redesigned LED headlamps and tail lamps now come in the Lexus signature ‘L’ shaped styling. Also new are the alloy wheels, refreshed to complete the subtle new look.

On the inside, you get some new stitching on the seats, a set of controls that allows you to shift the front passenger seat from behind mounted on the side of the seat in question and an LFA and IS inspired 3-spoke steering wheel and gear lever (respectively).

As though the hand-stitched leather-covered dashboard isn’t classy enough (only 12 Lexus craftsmen can create this), Lexus has taken the liberty to include the Shimamoku wood trim out of the LS in the new ES. The piece of wood on the door requires alternating sheets of dark and light wood veneers to be layered and shaped in a process spanning more than a month. Attention to detail and artistic craftsmanship can be better expressed with little else.

Angie from swiftquote was super efficient, friendly and patient. The bids from swiftquote's dealers are also much higher compared to what agents and dealers would buy in your car.

SwiftQuote was able to get me a quote in two days and it turned out to be the best quote in the end. I had listed the vehicle on another site for one month prior and was pleasantly surprised with a swift quote.
