Volvo V60 Cross Country T5 Review
Road runner

Not so long ago we sampled the smallest offering from Volvo, the V40 sports hatch and found that it was a pretty solid bang for buck car that looks great and isn’t bad to drive.

Continuing the trend of extended practicality offerings from Volvo comes another of its highly useable V series cars – the V60. In this case particularly, we have the Cross Country (CC) variant.

What’s a Cross Country you might ask, as I did when I first saw the term a little while ago. Simply put, Volvo has decided it would be a good idea to raise the ride height of some of its cars and as the name might suggest, it is good for clearing rougher terrains that would otherwise impede a normal road car with a relatively low ride height.

In the case of the V60, which is a sort of wagon/ estate car thing, the elevated suspension and CC specific body kit actually creates more of a medium-sized SUV look, which is a good thing because unless you’re looking for an MPV, most people don’t hop on the band(station)wagon here.

While it’s no XC60, the V60 CC presents an interesting alternative to quite a few classes of cars, namely because it doesn’t fit into any of the existing categories like a glove. Volvo claims that they’ve invented a new class of cars with the V60 CC, but let’s see how they have fared with the car in its various aspects.
