With the rear seats folded down, the Sienta provides similar cargo room to a small estate car

Interior colours are a mix of pleasant to the eye, cream white and black, with a few silver accents lining the dash.

I personally didn’t like the texture of the shiny bits of black plastic which housed the air conditioning switches, In-car entertainment unit  and surrounded the buttons on the steering wheel, as they felt like fine grit sandpaper, and would likely trap unsightly dirt, and bits of wet tissue if you attempt to wipe anything off from them.

But were the car shines is the amount of cubby holes and compartments it comes equipped with for you to stash tissue paper and wet wipes. The passenger side has a secondary compartment sited above the glove box, and another open shelf in-between, which is surprisingly deep, made such so that nothing flies out when accelerating hard, or when climbing up steep multi-story carparks slopes. Dual trays sited under the air conditioning controls and before the centre console, provides efficient use of space. A 12V socket sits above these trays, allowing for auxiliary power to be tapped. There is even a card slot, which may come in handy if you need to find a space for that spare cash card.

The double DIN head unit is locally fitted, and comes with USB connectivity. There is a CD player hidden behind. As it was intended to be installed lower, the unit awkwardly flips upward to provide access to the CD player, in order to close the unit, you will need to crane your neck to locate the button on the touch screen, in order to close it. Connectivity for phones comes in the form of Bluetooth.

Passenger doors come equipped with bottle holders, and rear passengers too get bottle-holding mouldings in the side panels.

The air conditioning unit for front passengers is efficient, with adjustments for the usual frontal vents, foot blowers and the deflector. Middle-row passengers, too get air conditioning from a vent located on the roof, and can be turned on or off from the driver’s seat.

Middle row passengers also benefit from power windows, and adjustable, sliding and reclining seats. The middle passenger might not be the most comfortable of all, as the hinge housing for the seat does protrude a little.

Access to the rear is easy with the middle row folding forward, and the operation can be done with one hand.

Given it’s size, there are some compromises for the Sienta. In order for the rear row to fold, the middle row of seats needs to be folded up first in order to gain access, as the fold below the middle. Thankfully, deploying them or dropping them back into the crevice can be done with just a few pulls from one hand.

While middle row seats easily have enough legroom for adults, the rear row, like many MPVs suffer from a lack of legroom, with knees touching the middle seat backs.

We were quite happy that the rear boot sill was kept extremely low, making loading and unloading easy. As a plus, when the need arises to activate or deactivate the rear seats, getting into the car to do so does not take much effort. With the rear seats folded down, the Sienta provides similar cargo room to a small estate car, although the gaps left by the resting rear seats may allow small items to roll between them.
