Nissan Pulsar 1.2 Dig-Turbo Premium Review
A New Alpha for a Pulsar?

Chic Is It?

Side styling features a few bulges, giving the car a sense of girth

Just like a new beginning for the Pulsar nameplate here, the headlamp assemblies sport a handsome “Alpha” shaped light cluster, and in-between them a black grille featuring Nissan’s current V-shaped element, found across their range.

Side styling features a few bulges, giving the car a sense of girth, though the 1,768mm width is a shade slimmer than the Corolla. Along the side, Nissan has also added a “go faster” stripe. We loved how the chrome accenting had been kept simple, with just a line of it framing the lower section of the windows. Tail design features a neat and frameless rear windshield, surrounded by bevelled body panels. The Pulsar gets a fancy set of 17”rims which fill the arches proportionately.

Compared to the Renault Megane, which the Pulsar is related to, the shut lines are pretty good. Then again the Megane had “mixed media” metal and plastic body panels, which due to different material thresholds, tolerances and the mix… did not fare so well in this respect.

We certainly can feel that the Pulsar was aimed at taking some of the yummy customer pie that the bulletproof Volkswagen Golf 1.2 had carved out for itself, with its sportier and appealing styling.
