Audi RS3 Sedan 2.5 TFSI qu S tronic Review
Snap Crackle and Roar!

The larger air scoops, a unique to RS and R range all-over-the-front honeycomb, and a blade with “Quattro” embossed onto it adds to taking the A3 looks further up a few levels

The Audi RS 3 in my books, is the most special RS model of them all. Their smallest sedan, gets more muscle with a very unique 2.5 litre five-cylinder engine, driving all four wheels.

But there is more to this than shoehorning a block which needs room for one more “banger” under the hood.

Styling

There is so much more going on even on the outside of this car, and done with plenty of purpose. The flared front wheel arches hide the added 20mm of front track that the car needs for additional stability.

The larger air scoops, a unique to RS and R range all-over-the-front honeycomb, and a blade with “Quattro” embossed onto it adds to taking the A3 looks further up a few levels.

In the rear, the RS 3 gets very large oval tailpipes, versus the quad ones on the “milder” S3, together with a diffuser insert to add to the sporty bits of styling.

The sedan has got an added 14mm wider track than the Sportback model, and the dissimilarities do not just stop there. While it is a no-brainer that one is a sedan and the other is some sort of hatch… thing…. Audi should shave off a bit of cost on production by only making the rear doors different between the Sedan and Sportback right? Wrong… You’d probably be searching high and low for a “same” body panel” in this case, as Audi had made every effort to ensure that the body styling for both cars worked visually. Any economist would see this as sheer lunacy, but we are amongst car lovers here (you’re smiling I know).

Strangely, the wheelbase is just a few mm shorter than the vanilla A3 sedan by a miniscule 6mm (and the same as the Sportback RS 3). All this we believe for sharper turning response.
