Overall, the more angular pressed metal does give the A5 a more pronounced and sculpted appearance
Of the three A5 body types, the Cabriolet always has a special place I feel. Not that the Sportback and Coupe are not special.
The second generation A5 Cabriolet carries over the wave-shaped shoulder line, which gives the A5 its identity. While the wheel arches feature bulges to underscore the A5’s Quattro DNA (but this 2.0 is actually FWD).
The new car does feature more angular styling up in front, where the bonnet features a number of creases which flow outward, with some forming part of the car’s side styling. The LED daytime running lights form the beginning of the characteristic wave side profile, which cleverly hides the bonnet’s shut line. Under the wheel arches, the Cabriolet gets a set of 17” rims with 225/50 series tyres.
A closer look also reveals silver wraparound trim, which surrounds the passenger cabin and also frames the windshield, something Audi had faithfully carried over since the mid-90s Audi 80 Cabriolet.
The rear has also been shortened and flattened a little. To neaten up the design, the third brake lamp has also been integrated into the silver trim ahead of the boot, instead of previously being punched into the boot lid.
Overall, the more angular pressed metal does give the A5 a more pronounced and sculpted appearance.
