Only a few cars can get this personal. The Audi TT Coupe broke convention when it was first introduced in the 90s. Its Bauhaus-inspired design harked back to the 1920s when the design movement was at its peak in Germany. The car featured distinctive arcs at the roof and lights, which contrasted well with the horizontal line styling for the rest of the body. The current TT has been around for a bit, but now, we get a car with an easier-to-swallow price tag.
The current TT car carries on with some of the Bauhaus influences seen on the first car, but features a more business-like nose, with the new floating grille design seen on other Audis in their range. Signature pumped-out wheel arches, “pillar-less” side glass all point to the styling of the original car.
Also retained, is the metallic fuel cap, which is a cross between the “bolted-in” original and that of the second generation car. We liked how Audi had incorporated the third brake light into the retractable wing, as a wide LED strip, and even our base 1.8 litre test car is equipped with twin functioning tail pipes.
