In the driver’s seat, the 3008 makes it clear that it is a very different car, in the face of competing models
Just like the 1.6 we tested, the 1.2 also features the bold use of materials, with chrome bits splitting the centre console between the driver and passenger. The gear knob itself is a black banana-shaped lever, just one of the quirks of the brand. While the bold use of materials is lauded, experience also tells us that there are times were fit from assembly is off, due to the various odd angles and the amount of materials used. Fortunately, this test unit has everything falling into the right place.
And unlike the 1.6, which has fabric on the dashboard trim, our 1.2 litre test car uses carbon fibre, a smarter choice, since it is more stain resistant.
In the driver’s seat, the 3008 makes it clear that it is a very different car, in the face of competing models. The instrument binnacle is fully digitised, and the multi-function steering wheel features a flat top and bottom, albeit a little tiny.
The 8” infotainment unit is decently easy to navigate, and users benefit from a series of real metal menu buttons, sited below the air-conditioning blowers, a real plus in ergonomics.
Users of phones which are QI compatible will benefit from a wireless charging dock, located in-front of the gearshift lever.
With a wheelbase of 2,675mm, front and rear passengers have sufficient legroom, while comfort from the seats, especially from those in the front are excellent, with plenty of back support.
Cargo space is also a strong point, with the 3008 able to offer 520 litres, and with the 60:40 folding seats, which can be unlatched from the boot dropped; the 3008 can swallow up to 1,580 litres.
