Kia Cerato SX 1.6 Review
Raising a Sting

Gone too are those confusing “K3” and “Forte” badges plastered onto the boot, leaving only the Cerato moniker

With the recent launch of the Stinger, we were so sure that KIA’s future range of cars would take a leaf from its styling.

The Korean marque has long been one of the go-to brands for those who want a bang-for-buck buy. The Cerato began as something simply affordable, offering similar equipment as its Japanese brand counterparts. The Koreans have kept true to some of these principles with the new car, an affordable point of entry with the base car, and higher up the model lineup, an attractive list of equipment.

Gone too are those confusing “K3” and “Forte” badges plastered onto the boot, leaving only the Cerato moniker.

The new car features sharp styling in its nose and tail, a high shoulder line and a roofline which extends to the boot, bellows confidence and a hint of sportiness. There is a sense that their design team had put in more time into detailing this car. A closer look reveals a contoured crisscross patterned “Tiger Nose” front grille, and flanked by some wonderfully sculpted LED headlamps. At the rear, a neatly designed LED tail lamp cluster complements the overall sporty styling of this fastback-styled compact sedan.

Our test SX trim model gets a set of 17” ten-spoke alloys, while the mid-spec EX 16”, and the base L model a set of 15” rims, which are still alloys.
