Azfar Hashim fought hard to get his hands on Audi’s latest S7 just a few days after its local launch – so was it worth it?

It has all the proper add-ons to make it go super fast...

Up till today, this luxury executive hatchback (obviously you cannot consider them sedans) class – a segment only Audi, BMW and Porsche are competing in – still polarizes opinion. You might want to accuse Audi of building a segment filler as a vain effort; but it’s just too good to be “just a segment filler”.

All that said, the base A7 obviously works. Somehow. So now meet it’s sinister brother: the S7.

Here’s the thing: you would look at a car like this only because you want something that is fast yet subtle. Not over the top. Deserves respect on the road. And looks so classy.

The S in S7 must have meant “Superrrrrrr 7”. It has all the proper add-ons to make it go super fast: a sporty front bumper that was obviously given much thought by the engineer. Take a close look and you should know it’s meant for only two things: one, assist the car aerodynamically and two, allow more air into the engine bay.

Then there is that large pizza 6-piston brakes. You know it has the stopping power too. Oh and by the way, those alloys are 20-inch big, wrapped in massive 265/35 R-20 Yokohama Advan Sport rubbers.

The last give away can be found at the rear: notice those four exhaust pipes?

Like the ‘regular’ A7, the S7 also gets a retractable spoiler mounted on the boot. It comes up automatically when driven at warp speed, or you can show it off manually via a button found at the center console.
