With much needed updates, the 300C suddenly turned into a much worthy alternative

Introduction, Exterior

Those twin exhausts peeking out do look great on the car.

The Chrysler 300C is perhaps the most successful American model in Singapore in modern times. They’re everywhere day and night, always on the fastest lane and like an exclusive by-invitation only clan, are always decked out in black, and black only.

Oh wait, they are cabs…

I was told that was a brilliant introduction to this review here today, so there it goes. Some of you readers might digress, but before you do so, let me elaborate on how this new model is a far brilliant and more desirable version than it’s predecessor.

As long as they’re not turned into cabs (sorry, can’t help it… Ha… Ha.)

On a more serious note, the first generation 300C was a, for no better word, cool large sedan. It’s the sort of car that presents it as an alternative to the usual Lexus or BMW, thanks largely to the fact that it looks like a Roll-Royce. We’re not sure how Rolls-Royce took to that, but hey, it sure as heck looks - wait for it - cool.

Besides the face, there’s just something about that long and wide body with a low roof; depicting American muscle cars from the days of moustache-are-cool. Mated to a 3.5-litre engine and priced below the usual suspects (even with COE), it’s a brilliantly packaged car.

With the Italians pumping some funds into Chrysler, the 300C now sports a more pleasant face – sleeker pair of headlamps with integrated trendy LED daytime running light, reshaped and cleaner grill rounded off with well-positioned foglamps.

Surprisingly the rear doesn’t seem to have gone under the knife – probably they were thinking, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. But what’s the purpose of a nip and tuck job when the rear is left untouched? That said though, the tail lamps do look different compared to its predecessor, together with a slightly reshaped bumper. Those twin exhausts peeking out do look great on the car.

Standard on the 300C are a set of 20-inch alloys wrapped in high-performance 245/45 R-20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar donuts; definitely fills up the large wheel arches very well.
