Don't get me started on this car. Anyone of you who doesn’t know what a Mitsubishi Lancer is should go chain your legs to a boulder and drag yourself into the rising tide, for that slow, torturous death.

By now, you would have heard many things about the new Lancer, which in correct form, is called the “Lancer EX”. This is important, because the current Lancer GLX that has the workhorse 4G series MIVEC 1.6, will continue selling for another 3 years or so.

Also, we do not need to tell you that this Lancer has the shared underpinnings of not-so-sexy cars like the Dodge Caliber and Mitsubishi Outlander, or that the engine technology has something to do with that of the World group, because you would probably know that by now. Or not…

Implicit

The Lancer EX has a strange effect on us. Looking at it meant suddenly forgetting past Lancers that were cheap, not so stylish, stodgy, and lacking in luxury and space.

The EX is big. Period. I have never seen, or sat in a bigger Lancer in my life. The car has been, stretched, literally, in every direction, to Galant-like proportions. The wheelbase measures in at 3.6cm longer than the GLX, while it is 5.84cm wider and a whopping 10cm higher. This yields a total of 2684 litres worth of passenger volume or in layman’s terms, approximately 2600 1 litre milk cartons.

Because it was based on the abovementioned platforms, the Lancer automatically gets 56 percent more in terms of torsional rigidity (50 percent bending resistance) than before. If they make cars any stiffer, rocks would crack upon impact.

Good response and support from Angie at One Shift when I wanted to sell off my old Camry which was due to be scrapped in early February. Would recommend this platform for those wanting to buy or sell their cars.
