Chevrolet is very confident of their latest car. According to their press release, it is “developed primarily to compete with the world’s best, as it showcases the advanced engineering capabilities of GM, and its design innovations”.
It also went on to mention just how confident GM is, as the Epica will “further enhance Chevrolet’s brand reputation and boost the image of Chevrolet cars”. In other words, Chevrolet sees it’s Epica as THE BMW 5-series of the east, or at least, on this side of the competition.
At first glance, it honestly appears to have has what it takes. The exterior stands out, such as the headlamps that mimic the abovementioned ride, or perhaps the Citroen C5 for that matter.
The rear looks uncannily Japanese. At least it doesn’t look too Camry-ish, and it isn’t predictable like the Accord or too conservative like the Nissan Cefiro.
A sweep through today’s market shows that the Epica’s abovementioned, three main Japanese are priced between $88k and $94k, whereas the Korean Sonata and Magentis are priced sub-$72k.
The $80,888 asking price of our beloved Epica puts it comfortably somewhere between the Japanese and the Koreans. Smart move, considering that those two Koreans have somehow lost their appeal ever since the taxi industry got the better of them, and the steep asking price of the Japanese might seem a tad too much for some.
Prompt and Fast. Service officer Muhd Yazid was very helpful in guiding the sales, and when urgent assistance is required! Kudos to officer for being able to address all queries.
