Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge Glass Roof Review
A mini alternative

First Volkswagen's Beetle, then Mini's Cooper, and now Fiat's 500. We're very sure iconic comeback cars have a special place in some of you drivers - now lets see whether the latest incarnation of the 500 impresses...

I’m pretty sure you’ve already read all the raving reviews of the new Fiat 500 from other publications. And I’m sure, they’re all pretty impressive enough to just let you fall for it yourself, right? If you’ve fallen for it, don’t worry – you’re still sane. Like me.

The 500, also known as (cue Italian accent) “Cinquencento” back in Italy, first came about back in 1957. Marketed as a cheap and practical town car, it redefined the term “small car” and at the same time shows just how town cars should be made.

To have a body shaped like that in 1957 just goes to show how much of an icon it’s meant to be - something to join in the ranks of the Mini Cooper and Volkswagen Beetle. And again, like the two iconic cars, the Fiat 500 gets resurrected in a new, more modern look.

Calling it “quirky” doesn’t seem right. Aptly, “loveable” sounds better…Don’t you think so? Goes to show that when it comes to automotive styling, the Italians still have the ability to stand on their own to make it as modern and unique as possible - but still holding on to the original plot.
