Volkswagen Scirocco Sport 2.0 TSI (DSG) Review
Green with envy

...and that is how everyone will feel when they see you drive a Scirocco

Volkswagen Scirocco

"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Only darkness everyday
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away..."

I don't know why, but the moment I saw the Volkswagen Scirocco, Marvin Gaye's "Ain't no sunshine" just kept ringing in my head repeatedly.

It was a gloomy morning, accompanied by bad traffic along the ECP prior to picking up the Scirocco from the VGS building. Add to the fact that Starbucks got my order wrong, so it all adds up to a really grumpy bloke.

But it all changed the moment I took the key and unlocked the car - initially, I thought it has to be the bright "viper green" colour that made me felt that way. As I walked around the car to scrutinize, I realised it is, after all, the whole appearance of the car that lit me up.

When was the last time you saw a coupe that made you stop in your track and go "what the hell on earth is that", followed by "I want one too"? Notwithstanding a Lambo, Ferrari or Porsche, I couldn't recall anything else that catches attention, and immediately the heart. Ok, so the Alfa Romeo GT made me feel that way once, but that was yesterday's news.

The Scirocco's look is a mean one that says, "I've come to cleanse these streets". Upfront, you get smoked headlamps that matches the horizontal grill nicely, with the lower part of the bumper housing the foglamps and signal repeaters. As you walk along the side, you'll notice the flowy and intricate profile which sweeps nicely towards the wide rear - interestingly, you don't see any angular lines here.

It's A and B pillars are set small, and with the frameless window, certainly adds a touch of class. The wide and pert rear is epical, very Wolfsburg, showcasing an almost vertical rear windscreen with a matching roof-mounted spoiler.

On a separate note, I'm not into this whole "bling-bling" thing, so I'm really unsure about the rims. It looks similar to the Passat CC's, but with a different finish that gives off a shiny effect. Hmm...maybe a darker shade would be a better bet?

Good response and support from Angie at One Shift when I wanted to sell off my old Camry which was due to be scrapped in early February. Would recommend this platform for those wanting to buy or sell their cars.
