There's nothing much to differentiate the Golf from the Golf Sport. "Golf" badge? Check. "TSI" badge? Check. 16-inch alloys wrapped in 205/55 R-16 rubbers? Check. Side mirrors with integrated repeaters? Check. Diffuser at the rear bumper? Check.

Still can't figure it out? Well, I can't blame you if you didn't manage to - they're very subtle, especially to most blind eyes.

Let me tell you what they are then. At the front, the lower grill lacks the chrome trimming. It's also missing the parking sensors we saw on the Golf Sport - what you get here are locally-fitted ones. Then at the rear, the Golf comes with a pair of tail-lamps that has red housings instead of blackened ones.

Unlike the exterior, the interior has many tell-tale signs to immediately inform you this is the entry-level Golf.

To begin with, the audio head-unit is a simple and fuss-free one, with no fancy touch-screen or parking monitor. On the dash and door, you get black plastic inserts instead of aluminium ones. The window controls also had to make do without any chrome trimming. Oh, the "Park Assist" button is missing as well.

The seats feel different - driver and front passenger lacks the support that was felt and much appreciated in the Golf Sport.

Other than those I've pointed out, everything else remains the same - high quality fit and finish, spacious rear, commodious boot, eight speakers, seven airbags and easy-to-read displays. Auxiliary audio jacks come standard, and that is helpful when you have a multitude of songs to listen to from your iPod or MP3 player.
