Audi seems to have mastered the method in making utilitarian wagons sexy. Like the smaller RS4 Avant we tested last year, the RS6 has immense road presence. The sheer size of it is enough to draw attention to it as it glides down the street and at nearly five metres in length, it’s quite hard to miss.

But the front end of this Audi is most intimidating and makes its presence felt. Especially at night when its row of LED headlights are properly lit, blinding and scaring your victims out of the way. The gloss black honey comb grille contributes further to the sinister guise of this evil Audi. And as if the four rings on the front grille isn’t enough, the ‘Quattro’ on the lower bumper reminds potential victims not to trifle with it in the bends.

The rest of its body is also well proportioned and continues to hint at its special nature. The front and rear fenders are dramatically flared to hide its wider track. Giving the huge estate a wide stance are the massive 21-inch alloys that look as if they’ll roll over anything.

For the most part, there aren’t any obvious cues that this large Avant is the flagship RS6. Perhaps a tiny badge on the front grille does betray its Thor hammer beneath but beyond that, you’ll have to be in the ‘know’ to be exactly sure what you’re looking at.
