Audi SQ5 3.0 TFSI qu tip V6 Review
Fly by five

Introduction, Exterior

If you thought the Q5 reached its pinnacle in the supercharged 3.0 TFSI we reviewed last year, Audi has churned out something a bit faster. In its long standing tradition of ‘S’ badged sedan, this is the first time that Ingolstadt has given the same recognition to any of its SUV.

It’s safe to assume then that this latest SQ5 is every bit as deserving of that coveted badge as its low slung stable mates.

Looking at the SQ5, you’ll be hard pressed to tell that it actually hides enough performance to equal other sports sedans. A perfect sleeper SUV we think. Very little betrays performance save for the subtle badging.

However the platinum grey grille and a revised bumper that shows off large intakes are pertinent clues to its performance. In the back, the chrome quad pipes produce an audible burble when you push the start button then quickly settles into obscurity once revs drop to idle.

Parked next to a normal Q5 and the lowered stance of the SQ5 becomes obvious. Sitting 30mm lower on stiffer springs, the flagship car grows into its image of an on-road dominion than off-road.

Sold my car withing a few days. Fast process. However, be ready for dealers to slash price saying need to change tyre, need to repaint, etc during viewing.
