The Accord was one of the key cars that defined the encroachment of Japanese cars into the American automobile market. For more than 15 years in the 1980s and 1990s, it claimed the title of the best-selling Japanese car in the US, which is no surprise given the car offered reliability, economy and low maintenance costs – the strong traits of a Honda.
In Singapore, the story was no different. What perhaps is intriguing is the Honda often came in two forms in several generations – one for the Japanese and/or European markets and the other for American markets. Although both sharing the same name, they often looked distinctly different, with the Japanese domestic models sporting the widely preferred looks (but this is debatable). For the one we’ve tested for Oneshift though, there is now a unified look globally which does seem more sensible, given global markets have converged in tastes and preferences.
The Accord of today is more sophisticated than ever before, claiming to be “Powered by earth dreams”. How does that feel like? Read on.
