Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI (DSG) Review

Introduction, Exterior

The Polo has had a long foothold in the supermini hatchback class. That seems like a strange thing if you think about it. It isn’t especially noteworthy in any real way from the looks of it. In fact, the latest model looks hardly different from the one it replaces.

Then there’s the drab grey interior which isn’t particularly stunning either. Neither is it particularly fast. So for all things considered, the car isn’t very interesting then?

Though the changes aren’t immediately obvious to the casual observer, then again they aren’t obvious to a keen observer either. But we assure you Volkswagen isn’t pulling a fast one on us. This really is the new Polo. Well, more facelift than completely new.

While the changes aren’t too obvious, there’s actually a new bumper and the chrome strip that separates the bottom grille from the fog lights is your biggest clue. Beyond that it seems everything (on the outside at least) looks pretty much the same as before.

But that shouldn’t be too much of an issue as they say, ‘Old is gold’ and the Polo still looks fresh despite this design being with us since 2010.
