Nissan X-Trail 2.0 Premium 7-seater Review
X marks the spot

Introduction, Exterior

In off-roading circles, the Nissan X-trail was known as the ‘little engine that could’. Although modest both in size and stature, the X-trail impressed with its incredible off-roading ability that for the most part, kept up with the big boys on the trails. Naturally Nissan capitalized on its ability in every ad possible.

But as the interest to off-road diminishes, people are moving to SUVs for more practical considerations like space. And this has led to the deluge of soft-roaders that are flooding the market these days.

While Nissan has made a nod to changes of the times by making the latest X-trail quite a bit more practical, it hasn’t forgotten its off-roading roots and it shows.

Designed in the UK, the latest third generation X-trail is swathed in fluid lines that pronounce its urban commitment. Though easily mistaken for its younger sibling, the Qashqai, the X-trail is actually much larger at 4,640mm compared to the Qashqai’s 4,380mm.

Its bigger dimensions also translate to a beefier exterior as well. And the X-trail casts an imposing stance.  Equipped with 18-inch alloys, the foot print of the X-trail seems much larger even though it’s based on the smaller Qashqai.
