This year saw the launch of two significant models in this category. The popular Nissan Sylphy made a re-entry into the market with the launch of a brand new model. The new car featured looks that were inspired by their flagship Teana but remained a very comfortable drive with its European sourced chassis.
Another old favourite also made an appearance. In its previous generation, the Vios dominated the Japanese sales charts for being one of the most reliable family run around that you could buy. However its budget price was made obvious in its interior. In the new car, Toyota sought to improve in this area and did a good job of elevating the interior further.
But it was the Koreans that impressed the most. The new K3 was a total redesign of the previous model. We were impressed with the improved interior build quality but more than that, the new design was a breath of fresh air to the category. Little wonder why both our Editorial team and readers had high praise for the Korean.
