Editor's choice: Hyundai Genesis Voter's choice: Mercedes-Benz C200
Our Editorial team chose the Hyundai Genesis to win here but the overwhelming support for the Mercedes-Benz C200 was still too much. Even with our backing, the Genesis only managed 33% against the C200's whopping 47% while the BMW 320 Efficient Dynamics was tied at 33% against the Korean.
We have good reason for backing the Hyundai Genesis as it seemed the most value for money choice to us. Packed with a laundry list of standard kit most often found in flagship sedans, it seemed a natural choice.
However, it was the Mercedes-Benz that won with the crowd. With lines that echo the elegance of its flagship sibling, it has helped the entry level sedan transcend beyond its contemporaries. An interior that seemed more S-Class than C-Class, it is hard to ignore the seemingly stratospheric levels of build quality that this entry-level executive sedan exuded. Coupled with a robust 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and spritely handling that is offset with a compliant ride, you can start to see why it is deserving of such a high praise here.
