Editor's choice: Renault Captur Voter's choice: Renault Captur
The nominees from this year's crossover category are more kindred spirits than they appear. Both are developed from their hatchback siblings. Both have excellent fuel economy and both run on diesel.
But where they differ is in the drive. While the 2008 handles decently around town, its robotic manual gearbox though common in its country of origin doesn't quite catch on with our local market. The Captur however has a more conventional dual clutch gearbox which offers a much smoother drive.
Combined with its snazzy looks, the Editorial team finds the Captur to be the better of the two. We found that not only did it look better, it is the more practical of the two and the better drive as well. Our voters seem to agree which is why the Captur won with 40 votes over the 2008.
