The Motor Traders Association is celebrating 2015 in a big way. After a seven year hiatus, the Singapore Motorshow is back bigger, better and with a grandeur never seen before. Held over four days from today till Sunday, this year sees most of the key industry players like Toyota, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz participating with sprawling booths and bringing some of the glitz and glamour of international motorshows to Singapore.

With 150 cars on display, there’s no doubt that this is one of the biggest motorshows ever featured locally. Key industry players launched or previewed no less than 20 new cars at the show. We’ve compiled a summary of the most interesting attractions below to help you decide if it’s worth a visit.

Bargain hunters will be delighted to know that the different brands are giving special discounts and packages during the show. And to keep you in the know, we’ve prepared a section where all the ongoing promotions from Singapore Motor Show are featured.

Ford Mustang

After a 50 year hiatus from right hand drive markets, the Ford Mustang is making an appearance for the first time here in its long illustrious history. Muscle car lovers have much to rejoice as the new car will feature a 5.0-litre V8 with 435bhp under the hood.

For those put off by the large capacity, there will be a 2.3-litre turbo using Ford’s Ecoboost tech to produce 310bhp. Still a respectable figure mind you.

Alfa Romeo 4C

The long awaited Italian light weight sports coupe has finally arrived.  Taking much inspiration from Alfa’s gorgeous Stradale 33 from 1967, the new 4C embodies all the right curves one looks for in the brand.

Powered by a modest 1.8-litre four cylinder turbocharged engine, it chucks out a whopping 350Nm of torque from 1,700rpm. Fully loaded, the car weighs just over a ton which makes it light and agile. And results in a century sprint time of just 4.5 seconds.

With a perfect mid-engine and rear wheel drive configuration, the 4C is setting its sights on the Porsche Cayman.

The 4C wasn’t the only beauty on hand to woo buyers. The Giulettas are still attractive to behold.

Unveiled for the first time at the Motorshow, the all-new X6 features nip tucks to the front and rear  to create a more intense impression. Initially offered with the mighty flagship 4.4-litre variant with 450bhp and 650Nm of peak torque, two more engine variants (a petrol and a diesel) will follow at a later date.

BMW i8

Although not new locally, it still generates plenty of interest for its clever use of electric technology in a performance sports coupe that gives us a glimpse into sportscars of the future.

Powered by a tiny 1.5-litre engine, the car combines the 231bhp from its tiny 3 cylinder engine with the immediate torque of an electric motor to produce a lightweight and agile sports car that still returns a whopping 47km/L. All this while maintaining sports car figures like acceleration from standstill to 100kmh in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 250kmh.

Lexus RC F

Encouraged by the success of the IS F, Lexus has gone on to produce this sexy beastly coupe that shares the same robust V8 from the IS F. With 476bhp from the 5.0-litre V8, this is one of the best looking cars at the show.

Lexus balanced the wild jaw dropping looks with the beautiful rich leather interior typical of its cars. This is one sports coupe that excites as much as it soothes.

Lexus LF-LC Concept

A wild imagining of the direction Lexus is going, this 2012 concept is the forbearer of the RC F’s beautiful graceful lines.

Volkswagen Scirocco

Perhaps not obvious at first glance, you’re looking at the replacement for the popular sports coupe that was launched in 2009. This new facelift features a new headlight design with curved LED daytime running lights, a new grille with a more aggressive lower bumper.

This best-selling coupe is sneaking its way back into the Cat A COE sales charts with a new 1.4-litre with 122bhp. Deliveries of the new car is set to begin in late Q1 2015.

Besides the star attractive above, the German company also had the latest version of their best selling sedan, the Jetta Highline, on display. And accompanied by the award winning Golf and the Touran TDI.

Subaru Outback

Subaru, one of the largest exhibitors at the show, launched their all-new Outback. The flagship SUV features muscular looks and a rugged body shape that accentuate the crossover intent.

The new car features a reworked chassis, steering, suspension and brakes. Off-road performance has been improved with an improved Symmetrical AWD system.

Honda Mobilio

Based on the Honda Jazz, the new Mobilio mini-MPV is set to make an impression on the market with its unique positioning. Small capacity paired with seven seats, this is one of the most bang for buck both in price and operating cost for the family man looking for a reliable family run around.

Kia Sorento

Launching an all-new flagship, Kia featured their new Sorento at the event today. The car has been given an upmarket impression with its redesigned grille and wraparound headlights. This new seven seater SUV from Kia is going to gather much interest with its number of seats and price point.
