An executive's car. It is plain but robust in build and safety. It's a company car and that's a good reason why most ppl wouldn't buy it - Looks. If it looked a little more exciting, perhaps more ppl would love the car. But as it is, it is about as exciting as watching paint dry. The S60 has been rather reliable and easy to drive. Power is available when I need it and braking is so-so. It is a heavy car. But the up side is that I know it's more like a tank than a car so I'm feeling much safer shuttling my kids around.

Yeah, my dad used to have one, before he swapped it for an Audi A6 because my mum disliked the heavy steering. Enjoy the car! Ours was also reliable, except for a slightly loosely operating Audio On/Off switch. asdzds

The Review

I recently got the keys to my friend’s Scirocco for a day. To say that I’ve been going GAGA over that car for awhile is an understatement. The first thing that I want to say is that the Roc is not a photogenic car. It simply isn’t. The lines, the curves, the creases in the metal simply don’t show up well on photos. And that leads to the main gripe that most people (especially my friends) find the design of the car to be of personal preference, to put it mildly. A friend of mine called it the “space shuttle.” Another called it an “over grown frog.” Yet another said: “It looks like a squashed Golf.” I say, see it in person, walk around the car, before you pass judgement. I find the strong and defined rear hunches of the wheel arch muscular and sexy. The steeply raked windshield and mean grille makes the car a handsome and angry looking car. I find that a lot of cars on the road these days lack character, more specifically, the lack of daring to have a character. Most cars are simply shaped to look unobtrusive, generic and easy on the eye. One car looks pretty much like the other car – like they were made from the same cookie cutter. I don’t mean that cars should be styled to attract attention all the time, like some “Ah beng” “zeng-ed out” race car. What I want is a car that is tastefully done yet it tingles your senses every time you lay eyes on it. Performance and build quality wise, it’s a VAG car and it shares the same engine from the old MkV Golf – what’s there not to like? The humans that own cars aren’t generic, why should their cars be generic? I raise my hand in solidarity against generic looking cars.

Strengths

Aggressive presence
Excellent build quality

Weaknesses

If you really want to nit pick, it's an FWD.

The Review

The Kia Cerato Forte is a breakthrough for Kia whose cars are normally associated with words like 'boring' and 'economical'. On first look you will be taken in by its sportiness making you doubt the KIA badge plastered proudly on the front grills. The front bears a little resemblance to a Honda Civic and the rear tail light looks uncannily similar to that of a Lancer EX's. The 1.6 SX model produces 124bhp which is more than adequate for the typical Singapore driver. The gearbox was efficient and fast switching but could do more with additional gear ratios. When floored, the Cerato Forte feels a little lethargic and can sound quite over-worked. Ride quality was above average giving one the feeling of driving a bigger car. The car goes over harsh road comfortably and well dampened even though the suspension set up was relatively simple on Macpherson struts and torsion beams. Body roll was also quite minimal due to the Electronic Stability Control which is standard on the SX model. The major drawback with regards to drive quality was the steering. It’s electronically assisted steering is the least rewarding with its self centering ability and feels too light at higher speed. Interior wise, the Cerato Forte has plenty to offer. It comes with factory fitted 6 CD-changer system, trio-gauge cluster with message centre, audio jacks for your I-pods, USB compatibility, steering wheel controls and an attractive red coloured illumination for the dashboard. However Kia should have done better with its interior build quality by eliminating the use of cheap plastics totally to achieve an absolute up-market feel. The Cerato Forte also has a huge boot which is only 10 litres less than a Toyota Camry. This is pretty impressive comparing the size of both cars. In any case if the boot space is insufficient, the rear split fold can be easily activated with a simple lever in the boot. Overall I would say the Kia has come up with a new class leader. With its loads of equipment, attractive styling and super low pricing I can see why the Japanese are starting to panic on this one.

Strengths

Alot of equipments normally only available on more expensive car, sporty styling, huge boot

Weaknesses

Light steering; Questionable interior build quality

Price definitely will move up the scale relative to the increase in COE prices...those that got the car at <50K got much lower COE.... asdzds
