Overall, good car to drive, feels solid as a tank, a whole dictionary full of 3-letter acronyms safety features, funky design. However, appeal is short-lived, compounded with the small boot opening and space and high FC, the C30 will be a nice NEW car, but not the good family car, when the Yuppy buyer starts a family, does school runs, buys groceries or picks up the laundry. He'll/She'll find that he/she will be wanting more space... in which case, a Ford Focus ST makes more sense.
Solid Volvo-built quality, always makes you feel safe travelling in one. Gorgeous slim centre console, first seen in the S40, and to be a standard feature in all Volvos (currently, only the S60 and CX90 doesn't feature this). Good rear headroom and legroom (even for the tall) for a 2-door (2+2 seater). Smooth creamy engine, with good throttle response (peak torque keeps in at a low 1900 rpm). Same engine, by the way, with the Focus ST, although it feels a lot more powerful in the ST, probably because it had less weight to move, and 5bhp more. SM Motors will provide 3 year of free maintenance (by maintenance = parts + labour).
Limited boot spcae and tiny tiny rear opening. You'll probably have the tendency to scratch your paintwork trying to load any golf bag into the boot. Opening is way too small. Looks funky and lovable at first sight, but look longer and you'll get tired of the lines. Somehow, the car seems cut in half, incomplete. The front is so Volvo, but the back is just too much into the future that it creates a sort of de-sync with the nose. Weird. According to agent, FC is a low 10 km/l, so expect a lower figure in real world use.
