The Review

I've heard my artist friend comment that the most beautiful cars in the world can be drawn in three lines. And those three lines combine masculinity and femininity. I never quite understood what he said till I laid eyes on the S5. The lines on the car are heart achingly beautiful. And usually that amount of passion is reserved for only the best of Italy's creations. Yet the S5 has svelte lines on the side; the graceful shoulder line that runs below the windows and the bold line at the bottom of the door that underscores it all. The front facia is aggressive but tempered with restraint. It has classic Americana muscle car lines - straight cut air dams and squarish brow. The little V8 badge on the fender panels add a touch of hooliganism too this overall elegant and stylish design. It drives like a monster. 345bhp through all four wheels is an experience indeed. Well this all goes up against the perennial favourite, the BMW335i. I wasn't a fan of the previous gen's Bangle butt and I'm still deciding on the new gen's very plain body work. So for now, the S5 gets my nod of approval and perhaps, my promise of a purchase.

Strengths

Power, plenty of it.
4WD, plenty of traction.
Simple, clean and beautiful lines.
