The Review

Citroen, the brand that is often consider weird and oddball. However, with the new C5, Citroen has taken a rather Teutonic approach in designing it. The usual highlight of the C5 is the hydro-pneumatic suspension. Ever since the Citroen DS saved Charles de Gaulle life during the assassination, the C5 has been blessed with this iconic status. The new HydraActive 3 suspension is very much similar to the old, but now with sporty aspiration. This doesnít mean it has BMWís bone jarring ride, but an improvement over the old boat-like ride. As with all Citroens, comfort has always been its main principle, and the C5 is no different from the others. The engine and gearbox are wonderful to perform the duty of a cruiser, but when spirited driving is required, the ageing 2.0 engine and its yesteryear 4 speed auto starts to put itself away from its nearest competition. Coming soon, a 1.6 turbo version is in the pipeline to replace the 2.0 atmo engine. The big question is, will it be hooked up with a 6 speeder or a 4 speeder like the C4 Picasso? Driving a C5 speaks a lot about your individuality. However, unless you are willing to pay a premium for being unique, the new superb is definitely a smarter and better buy.

Strengths

Magic carpet ride. Handsome Styling. Improved interior build quality over the previous C5

Weaknesses

Carried over engine and gearbox. Despite the longer wheelbase, its smaller than the exterior suggests. Fuzzy center console.

i do have to agree on your point for the brakes. its very sensitive to input. sometimes its very hard to put up smoothly, esp low speed travelling. asdzds

I went on test drives on a Volkswagen Golf GT and Skoda Superb. Both are from VW group and share a trait- jerky, hard braking under normal braking pressure. Did you experience that? And I agree that the Superb is a smarter buy, but I would still choose the C5 for its individuality, style and excellent comfort. asdzds

I saw a white C5 right in front of me this morning. I must say the tail design is quite pleasant although unconventional. The silouette has a very pronounced slope on both sides, emphasising its wide "bottom". Well, being french, such design (including the "funny" side mirrors) is considered a norm :-D asdzds

The Review

The car was delivered on October 21st. And I have been in love with this car. It comes with standard cruise control, 2 memory seats with electronic adjustment for both the driver and the passenger, comes with electronic parking brake, and automatic lights, rain wipers and volume control. The ride quality is super smooth thanks to Citroen's HydraActive 3, hydro-pneumatic suspension. It's also a very smooth car and you can barely hear anything even with no radio on. It's also very spacious at the back and the seats are superb. The only thing that's bugging is the lack of drink holders in the front and that the engine could have been more powerful, other than that, this is the best executive sedan in the market hands down. Beats Accord and Toyota. And is nearly on the same level as the E Class and the 5 Series. And for its ride comfort, I would say almost, if not better than the S Class and 7 Series.

Strengths

Ride Comfort almost as good as S Class.
Extremely quiet ride, barely any noise.
Standard Set of Equipment, very good.

Weaknesses

The engine can be more powerful
