Similar cars tried: None
Fuel consumption: 10 km/litre
Drive pattern: Initially averaged around 9km/l. Consumption got better after 10k servicing and switch to fully synthetic engine oil.
I'm no light footer. In fact I'm a terrible economical driver.
NOW I'M AVERAGING AT LEAST 10km/l ON ESSO 92!!! YES!!! OCTANE 92!!! NO KIDDING!!! WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A TALL 7-SEATER MPV ORIGINATING FROM KOREA!!!

The Review

Does not look like a commercial van that cheaper options Suzuki APV and almost similarly priced Fiat Panorama. Wait a minute, THEY ARE COMMERCIAL VANS ripping off their buyers. The Kia Carens handles well. The engine is quiet and feels adequate for Singapore roads and occasional jaunts north of the causeway. The car's independent suspension handled the Malaysian roads extremely well going over most potholes and road surface imperfections while still remaining comfortable. Overtaking more expensive Japanese cars proved to be child's play. Tried sitting in the 3rd row with my wife while father-in-law was driving. I'm 1.8m tall and my wife's 1.65m but we were able to get comfortable and even fell asleep during the 30 minute ride. Air-con cooling of the 3rd row from the 2nd row vents were adequate.

Strengths

Cheap. Good build quality. Comfortable. Quiet.
EXCELLENT VALUE FOR THE 62K I PAID FOR IT! MY RATINGS WILL THEN BE BASED ON THE PRICE OF THE CAR.

Weaknesses

No leather wrapped steering wheel, factory fitted head unit which is Cycle and Carriage's fault.
Almost non-existent boot space with all seven seats up.

Similar cars tried: Did not bother testing anything else. This was the only thing within my budget that could seat 7 and not converted from a van.

The Review

On the whole, I got what I paid for $62,000. Dealer threw in a Sony DVD Playback and ceiling mounted LCD monitor. The Rike Cool Solar Film suffered from poor installation. Had to return to Rike Cool Telok Kurau twice to rectify problems. Wuld not recommend them to anybody. Overpriced but I got them free anyway.

Strengths

Quiet, comfy ride. Rear air con vents. Cheap.

Weaknesses

No roof rails. No leather wrapped steering wheel. No factory fitted head unit with steering controls. Cycle & Carriage need to improve on this if they want to sell more. One step lever for folding centre seat to access third row is on the right second row seat. Stupid considering that we stop and pick up passengers on the left. C&C did not do their homework properly.

The Review

Decided to change my car to MPV due to increased Family members. Compared Wish, Stream and Carens before deciding on buying Kia Carens. Was impressed with Carens when I test drive the car as it provides a smooth and quiet ride. Carens also the only car among the 3 cars that I was comparing that comes with a rear aircon. Another reason of choosing Carens is because it is about $10k cheaper than Stream and Wish. Still quiet happy with the car after collecting it, except that the consumption appeared to be on the high side. As for high road tax (compare to Wish and Stream) and small boot space, I was prepared when decided on buying this car.

Strengths

Bigger 3rd row compared to Stream and wish.
Mid row aircon.
New Looks, Engine and Design Surpass Predecessor.
Ride comfort (Quiet ride).

Weaknesses

Super small boot space when sit 7 persons.
Poor Fuel Consumption (Still runnning in anyway)
Road Tax
