Malaysian Police recovers stolen luxury cars

A Porsche Cayenne normally goes for anywhere between S$250,000 to S$500,000. However, a man in Shah Alam was selling one for S$32,000. The catch? The vehicle was a stolen one.

The 48 year old man who offered the car for sale specialises in dealing with stolen luxury cars, and was arrested after 5 stolen luxury rides have been recovered. The stolen vehicles were worth S$1.7 million. His arrest comes after police confirmation that the 5 cars were indeed stolen. He has another 10 cars in his possession, and the police are now checking if they are stolen as well.

The man would advertise and sell the cars with forged road tax documents and insurance to gullible victims at super low prices. One such person bought 4 cars. He is not the only one. Malaysian police have persuaded the owners of 15 cars bought from the 48 year old criminal to verify the car's status.

Theft of and from vehicles have been on the up. In an unrelated case, a notorious motorcycle robbery gang was busted, with 11 members arrested and 15 motorcycles confiscated. The gang has robbed almost 50 victims in the peninsula.

To curb the increase in numbers, Malaysian police have assembled a special task force to track down and arrest the theives.

Sold my car withing a few days. Fast process. However, be ready for dealers to slash price saying need to change tyre, need to repaint, etc during viewing.
