BMW 7 Series Sedan 740i Review: Clubbing high in the 7s

BMW's 740i is all set to trounce its competition, and have a firm hold as a leader in its segment. But with its slightly higher price tag, what sets it apart?

What we like:
pros
Has all the luxuries befitting of a luxury sedan
pros
less controversial exterior and DDC to add more driving finnesse.
What we dislike:
cons
The price tag
cons
and that rather small wheel combination. Needs a bigger boot too.

At $318,800, the 740i is not a cheap proposition, especially after putting into consideration the prices of its competitors - the S300 is retailing at $286,888 while the A8 at $278,300.

But it's worth forking out that extra. Why? Firstly, the 740i gives you a 326bhp turbocharged in-line 6 engine, while in the S300 and A8, it has to settle only with a 231bhp V6 and 260bhp V6 engine respectively. Secondly, if you were to compare their exterior, the S-Class looks dated and the A8, well, just unexciting. While the 7 Series, it just has the presence. Sounds good?

As if trouncing the competition isn't enough, it's also safe to say the 740i will outsell the rest of its variant three to one. Don't take my word for it - just wait and see...
