With superb MPVs like the Stream and Odyssey, car buyers seem to have forgotten that Honda also offers the Freed in its official line-up. Well, ignore the Freed at your own peril for it is a pretty darn good compact people carrier as we are about to find out.

The officially imported Freed comes with a host of standard equipment which includes the twin electrically operated sliding doors, all round electric windows, a two-din touch screen stereo head unit, climate control, front airbags and so on. The official car not only offers a manufacturer backed warranty but also features a five-speed automatic gearbox and suspension that is better tuned for our road conditions.

The Indonesian-made Freed was priced in the $80k range when it was first officially introduced a couple of months back. Honda has managed to reduce the Freed’s sticker price to below $70k, making it a good buy for a car that has such a wide range of talents despite its relatively compact dimensions.

The Freed proves that there isn’t a need or necessarily for thirsty and big, hard to park MPVs when it comes to people carrying
