Budget coupe buyers were left in limbo when Hyundai discontinued the Tuscani and Honda stopped selling the Integra a couple of years back. The demise of the Tuscani and the Integra certainly left a big void in the lower end of the coupe market. Those who wanted a stylish two-door car at an affordable price just didn't have one to buy anymore, until Kia revived the segment with the Forte Koup at the end of 2009.

The Koup was a roaring success straight from the get go, flying off the showroom forecourt faster than Kia can supply them initially.

But things looked less rosy for the Koup as 2010 progressed - the high COE prices meant buyers for more affordable model like the Koup stayed away from the showrooms or put off their purchases and Koup as well as Forte saloon sales dipped as a result, even though they are still very good cars and probably the best affordable models out there.
