Mini One 1.6 Review: Makes you want to push all the right buttons
Amongst the many comments on the new MINI One, of chief concern is that the car is for those who can't afford a proper Cooper. But just how well does it stack up against the Cooper? And does it make it that much inferior?

Of course, all the BMW-derived fancy acronyms like CBS (Condition-Based Service System), EPAS (Electronic Power Assisted Steering), CBC (Cornering Brake Control), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and also, the good ol’ ABS.
It’s even frugal with its consumption, boasting numbers of 6.6 l/100km.
More realistically though, we believe with the car’s propensity to make you want to have wide bulging eyes and a big cheesy grin plastered across your face, one should expect daily usage to have slightly lesser returns.
Another concern people might have with cars like these is that they may not be the best at cruising the expressways.
However, thanks to its impressively cozy lounge, sorry, cabin and remarkable build quality, you will hardly tire when conquering large distances.
Its leather seats and colour scheme resemble something more from a chic jazz bar than from a rowdy German beerhouse. Or an English one.
The radio, though, might take a while to figure out, but the uniqueness of the buttons and switches’ style on the console make up part of the pleasant experience.
So, for a new MINI that looks equally as appealing as any other Cooper, still feels great to turn about in and has enough safety features to prevent Average Joe from making dangerous remarks and costs SGD $89,800, it is hard to not feel very tempted.
Unless of course, you still have that leather helmet and suspenders on.
