With its wide range of sizes, the FK452 covers the full application spectrum from OEM fitments to ultra-low and extra-wide fitments for tuned up vehicles.

Similar to its predecessor, the FK452 sports a symmetrical V-shaped tread pattern, complete with a solid circumferential centre rib. Both longitudinal and angled grooves are utilised to provide a high standard of aquaplaning resistance.

Construction and Appearance

The dual tread rubber compound includes a specially developed silica compound that promotes better traction in the wet without sacrificing wear resistance.

The construction of the FK452 includes wide steel belts of high stiffness along with a high tension carcass and reinforced steel bead filler, all working together to provide high-speed stability and responsive handling.

The steering feel is quite positive while the turn-in is grin-inducingly sharp. The FK452 exhibits a confidence-inspiring level of straight-line stability, even at license-threatening speeds.

Cornering-wise, the tyre grips the road surefootedly for most drivers though the driving enthusiasts would prefer a higher adhesion limit. When pushed, the FK452 relinquishes its hold on the road by washing wide progressively.

The only downside is that the tyre is rather vocal, squealing upon the slightest provocation. In terms of braking performance, it is more than adequate for a sporty tyre, hauling the test car down from speed without straying from its direction of travel.

Dry Performance

Wet Performance

The wet-biased tread pattern of the FK452 disperses the water from the road surface effortlessly, thus allowing the tread compound to grip the asphalt. It is especially evident in the braking.

When grip turns to slip, it does so almost as progressively as it does in the dry. Aquaplaning sets in only when the speed goes above the national limit. The FK452 provides more than sufficient feedback through the helm to the driver.

Comfort and Noise

Despite its rather stiff sidewalls, the FK452 provides a surprisingly compliant ride, cocooning the occupants from the road irregularities. The pattern-noise cancellation engineered into the tread pattern by Falken has proven itself to be of substance as the tyre stays relatively quiet for a high-performance tyre.

Conclusion

Though there are other tyres on the market with better dry weather performance, the Falken FK452 is an excellent all-round performance tyre, with a comfortable and quiet ride. It shines especially in the wet with its effective water evacuation and superb road holding. Highly recommended for all drivers.
