Germans Greet with Goodies!
HOHOHO! Santa sent us an email asking if we could kindly do a review on who's been nice last Christmas, so that he would know who to send the extra large packages to this year. Here's what we found.

A lovely warm and sunny day, a convoy of newly-registered Volkswagen beetles, enough presents to fill the back of a Caddy and a bunch of very excited kids and drivers - this was how the fast-growing German company in Singapore spent one morning before Christmas Day – sending all the goodies right to their doorstep.

A group of Beetles, led by the powerful and compact Golf GT, were a spectacle on the road to the Child at Street 11 charity cum childcare centre in Ang Mo Kio. Little did the excited motorists traveling alongside know what good they were up to.

In a most adorable gesture of appreciation to the group, the Beetle bunch were treated to a session of song and dance performed by the kids.

Mercedes-Benz – Treats from the Trucks
The kind souls from Stuttgart ran a slightly different route – they used their Mercedes-Benz Truck to transport all the boxed goodies.

Some lucky children of some Mercedes-Benz customers also had some invaluable experience, through organisers "Food From The Heart"'s concept which involves the children picking up toys in good condition and giving it to another child, encouraging them to learn and appreciate the meaning of caring and sharing.

Dr Rainer Thiel, President and CEO of Daimler South East Asia elaborated, "As a company with core competence in mobility, we are happy to contribute to a good cause by utilising our Mercedes-Benz truck for the collection and delivery of the toys for the needy children. For the past three years, we have supported the organiser, Food From The Heart, on this island-wide toy collection and distribution initiative. This year, we have extended our role. Besides providing a Mercedes-Benz truck, we have mobilised the children of our Mercedes-Benz customers and our staff in the collection of toys. The response to this worthy cause has been tremendous, with close to 2,000 toys being collected at the Mercedes-Benz Centre. This festive season has been made more special with the spirit of giving and sharing."

The Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home starts 2008 with $50,000 more in its coffers, thanks to the generous contributions from Porsche customers and Stuttgart Auto Pte Ltd.
Led by Stuttgart Auto, the authorized importer of Porsche cars in Singapore, Porsche owners, together with staff at Stuttgart Auto, raised $26,864 for the home and its 104 children. Stuttgart Auto, then topped up the amount with an additional $23,136 to a grand total of $50,000.

It was not just financial support given; Stuttgart Auto threw a party at the home for the children that included a feast, and entertainment such as balloon sculpting, magic shows and games.

“This is a wonderful Christmas gift and I will be pleased to accept it on behalf of the Home” said Ms Geraldine Yap, Head of the home. “This money will be used to pay for the children’s educational expenses, including school fees, uniforms and books.”
