Jerry Tan is part of the group of enthusiasts who work for OneShift/Carousell Autos.

We speak to him to find out more about his life, his passions and his work.

What’s your name and how old are you?

I'm Jerry, 30 years old.

What do you do at Carousell?

I’m an account manager for the Autos Category, which includes Motorbikes, Car Accessories and Car Workshop merchants.

What car do you drive, and why?

I did not drive to the shoot (laughs) as I had just collected my Lexus IS250 after the shoot was done! I rode an Aprilia RS125 to the meet.

The 2 stroke engines are slowly being phased out of Singapore (maybe even worldwide) due to emission laws as the bike is constantly spitting white smoke, also known as '2T' for those who know. I mainly got this bike due to its performance and looks, and also due to the lack of variety in the class 2B category.

I’m actually more of a car guy. Especially with COE prices now aiming for the moon, I chose the IS250 because of its robust reliability, price-tag friendliness and for its ‘cooling-function-seats’. It's not everyday you can get aircon emitting out of your seat (wink). And what's more, “Life with Toyota is a standard living” (laughs) - got to love V6s!

How did Carousell help your car buying/selling?

I have driven 3 cars and a bike before, and like many of my colleagues here, all of them have been sold and bought through Carousell! With my last IS250 purchase, I bought it from a direct owner who had not even listed the car anywhere else. Car modifications available on Carousell are often eye-opening too; sometimes you might not even know what's available for your car until you browse through. However, most enthusiasts already know what they want - and if one happens to chance across something "BNIB" it is very satisfying, always!

Your favourite past time?

You can find me detailing my car/bike in a multi-storey car park professionally (as I would like to think) from time to time in the east area. The IS250 must always look good, cos it's not a performance car. As I would say, "Lose nevermind, pattern must be nice!"
