While most families spent their Sunday morning sleeping in or having family breakfast, these guys were blitzing down the roads of Kallang’s car park. A whole range of Mitsubishi Evos and Subaru WRXs lined the tentage, together with their pit crew, ensuring perfection to the very last detail. The organizers were also particularly pleased to see some variety, for the first time, apparently, in the forms of a Golf GTI and a John Cooper Works Mini.

Despite the SuperSprint event being more challenging and boasting more excitement, the Sprints took up most of the day. With a 201 m straight road for drivers to stretch their legs, it was nothing short of a crowd-thriller.

Eager spectators of young adults and whole families gathered along the barricades to catch a glimpse of the action, despite the searing heat. And with blazing performances like those put up by Garage R’s HKS-tuned Mitsubishi Evo, Lim Tan Motors, FK Massimo and so on, there’s little reason for the on-lookers not to shout for more.

Understandably, not everybody is a fan of sprints, so other events like the Autostyling Challenge Series, the Ultimate Sound Challenge Series and the Race Queen Search offered some other aspects of the motor-madness here. But of course, the Race Queen Search probably took priority amidst the male-dominant crowd.

While the next big local race is set to take place in May, you won’t be left for dry in the month of April.

Taking over the Sepang International Circuit will be MPT’s Super Time Attack – HKS Hyper Challenge. Expect some fanfare and buzz as Japanese racing driver Mr Nobuteru Taniguchi will set a 1-lap time challenge for anyone to beat his time. Or rather, try and beat his time.
