1,600BHP, 16-cylinder Bugatti Mistral Spotted In Singapore
Brand’s last pure ICE-powered Bugatti stops by Singapore as part of world tour
The shortest month of the year did not deter manufacturers from squeezing in press events they’re certain will set our pulse racing. Pagani’s Huayra Roadster BC made its local debut earlier this month. The world’s fastest business jet served as the backdrop, doubling as the world’s greatest distraction. The following week saw Aston Martin’s Valhalla make its Southeast Asian debut.
Just when we thought that’s enough performance for the month, even more so when Budget 2023’s announcements placed dampeners on luxury cars (let alone hypercars), Bugatti Singapore went against the grain to unveil the Mistral - the brand’s ultimate roadster, and the last ever pure combustion-engined Bugatti.
1,578bhp and a century sprint of 2.5 seconds are stunning achievements, even more so when it's not assisted by battery-powered motors. Not to be confused as a drop-top Chiron, the Mistral’s design is unique and pays homage to the 1934 Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid.
All 99 examples priced at 5 million Euros each (starting) have been spoken for, with deliveries due in 2024. What’s next? Hybridisation is on the cards (rather than going fully electric), almost certainly for the next Bugatti. For now, we can count our blessings to be able to tally 16 cylinders in a car - a responsibility Bugatti needs to shoulder at least before emission standards tighten yet again.
