3 New Versions Of Iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class Launched In Singapore
S$782,888 gets you either the all-electric G 580 with EQ Technology or G 500 petrol, while you’ll have to fork out S$1,062,888 for the V8-powered Mercedes-AMG G 63.

Mercedes-Benz Singapore will unveil the full G-Class line-up for the first time at G-HAUS, a three-day brand experience running from 1 to 3 August. Guests can get up close with the all-electric G 580 with EQ Technology (S$782,888), the G 500 (S$782,888), and the Mercedes-AMG G 63 (S$1,062,888) through interactive showcases and activities.

With the latest updates, the G-Class now offers its most diverse range of drivetrains and customisation options yet, while staying true to its distinctive off-road DNA. Featuring a ladder-frame chassis, three mechanical differential locks (for G 500 and Mercedes-AMG G 63), LOW RANGE gear reduction and high ground clearance, the new G-Class continues to set the benchmark in luxury off-road performance.

An electric G-Class?
Yes, the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology is the first fully electric G-Class. It maintains its trademark angular shape and ladder-frame chassis, now reinforced to house a 116kWh battery that offers up to 491km of range (WLTP). Four independent electric motors produce a total of 587hp, enabling advanced off-road features like G-TURN for tight turning, G-STEERING for a smaller turning circle, and Offroad Crawl for controlled low-speed driving. A black-panel grille, raised bonnet, air curtains and a rear design box enhance its electric character and improve aerodynamics.

It can turn on the spot?
G-TURN enables the electric G-Class to rotate almost 360 degrees in place, up to two full turns, on loose or unpaved surfaces. This is achieved by turning the wheels on each side of the vehicle in opposite directions. To activate, the vehicle must be stationary on level ground with doors closed, brake pressed, front wheels straight, “D” mode engaged, “Rock” driving program selected and LOW RANGE gear activated.

G-ROAR
G-ROAR provides a distinctive sound experience for the electric G-Class, inspired by the V8 engine’s deep, powerful tones. The sound changes with driving modes, ranging from subtle in “Comfort” to bold in “Sport.” It also features “aura” sounds when approaching, unlocking and leaving the vehicle, along with “event” sounds for door closing, motor start and stop, and charging.

If you want full customisation…
The MANUFAKTUR programme offers G-Class owners extensive customisation options, including paint colours, seat trims, stitching and interior details. The range has recently expanded to include a two-tone Catalan beige/black leather interior, a “MANUFAKTUR” branded grab handle, and a full nappa leather package. This premium package covers almost the entire interior, from the headliner and pillar cladding to the seat backrests - adding a luxurious diamond-patterned centre panel to the headliner.

I prefer my G-Class old school
Then we’ll be looking at the G 500, powered by a 3.0-litre 6 pot producing 449hp and 560Nm. It’s the lightest of the trio, weighing in at 2,485kg. 0-100km/h is dispatched in 5.4 seconds. The full-fat Mercedes-AMG G 63 utilises a familiar 4.0-litre V8 churning out 585hp, allowing it to sprint to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds. Not that it matters much to prospective customers, but combined fuel consumption is tagged at 6.6km/l. Both variants come with a 100-litre fuel tank.
