AA Singapore has declared the official commencement of the Autoventure London-Singapore Expedition Drive 2023 through a flag-off ceremony. The remarkable 98-day road trip that starts on 6 August had its inauguration at the Intercontinental London – The O2 Hotel.

The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency, Mr. Lim Thuan Kuan, Singapore High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. His attendance serves to underscore the robust diplomatic rapport that binds the two nations together.

A cohort of 33 adventurers and a caravan of 12 automobiles will embark on an expedition spanning continents. This gathering will unite individuals who share a common zeal for discovering new horizons. Building upon the triumph of AA Singapore's pioneering 92-day odyssey in 2019, commemorating the Bicentennial Year, this year's 98-day Autoventure London-Singapore Expedition Drive responds to the desire for extraordinary escapades. The itinerary encompasses a sprawling 25,000km, traversing 20 countries.

Amidst the 98-day journey, participants will relish the privilege of exploring UNESCO World Heritage sites and other landscapes. The journey will present occasions to engage with local communities, be immersed in diverse cultures and establish lifelong bonds with fellow adventurers.

Mr. Bernard Tay, President of Automobile Association of Singapore said, "We are honoured to continue the legacy of the Autoventure London-Singapore Expedition Drive and embark on this remarkable journey once again. Our priority is to provide our members with flexible, well-paced driving routes and itineraries that cater to their interests. Above all, road safety is of utmost importance to us, and we always emphasise in during our convoys.”

Mr Tay added, “Our participants are a group of passionate Singaporeans who enjoys long and arduous drives. They have self-funded the trip, with some driving their beloved vehicles, while others have purchased pre-owned or even new vehicles specially for this expedition. These participants serve as ambassadors for Singapore, promoting tourism, road safety and embodying the Singaporean spirit.”

During the 98-day trip, AA Singapore will support participants by assisting with logistics, accommodation, and required travel documents. The itinerary will be carefully planned, covering famous landmarks, lesser-known spots, and immersive cultural experiences. The journey will also include regular rest stops, allowing participants to recharge and enjoy the destinations they visit.

Mr Lee Wai Mun, Chief Executive Officer of AA Singapore shared “Embarking on this extraordinary expedition, participants will be treated to a tapestry of unforgettable experiences, witnessing awe-inspiring sights, immersing themselves in diverse cultures, and engaging with the warm-hearted locals along the way. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, each destination will offer a unique blend of history, natural beauty, and vibrant traditions. Participants will have the opportunity to savour local delicacies, embrace new customs and forge meaningful connections with the communities they encounter. Participants will not only return to Singapore as comrades, but as an extended family, bonded by the shared memories and experiences that have woven their hearts together over the incredible 98-day adventure."
